Kobido,
the art of facial massage.

Origins of Kobido

We have to go back to the time of the Yellow Emperor in China (2700 BC) when the only form of massage that existed was Amma (or anma) literally “to calm with the hands”. This technique is recorded in the Huangdi Neijing, the oldest work of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

Amna entered Japan in 562 A.D., flourished for centuries to become in the 20th century shiatsu where it was recognized in 1955 as a medicine in its own right. It appeared in France in 1970.

Kobido was born in 1472 when two of the best masters of Amna participated in a competition south of Mount Fuji. This demonstration consisted in performing facials with Kyoku-te, one of the 7 categories of Amna techniques based on a percussion technique with a folded hand. The competition lasted for several months and after it was impossible to decide between the two masters, they recognized each other’s talents and decided to create the KOBIDO house together which means “the traditional way of beauty”.

They established 48 separate Amna techniques. For hundreds of years, the techniques of the Kobido house have been passed on in a very closed circle from master to master. Today, with Dr. Shogo Mochizuki, we are in the 26th generation.

Kobido is an ancient art that has remained essentially the same over the centuries. Dr. Shogo Mochizuki points out that in order to remain the most advanced facial available, Kobido has adapted to the world and times around it, the original techniques as established by the two masters remain but the presentation and composition of the treatments continue to be adapted decade after decade. For him, the philosophy of Kobido is that ultimate beauty comes from a perfect balance between physical, emotional and spiritual health.

Today, this traditional Japanese art with multiple benefits for the face is practiced in France by an elite group of highly trained practitioners.

A clarification of the word “Kobido

It became common to call Kobido a form of facial massage or the art of facial massage itself.

In reality, “Kobido” is the name of a lineage as well as the name of Dr. Shogo Mochizuki’s company and is not the technical name of a method or treatment.

“Kobido” has been a registered trademark in Japan for many years like Shiseido or Toyota.

Who is Kobido massage for?

Kobido has many benefits and is ideal for people who are tired, disconnected and/or want to slow down the aging process of the face.

It is suitable for women and men of all ages.

It goes without saying that before the age of 30, it will be more relaxing and that after the age of 80, the lifting effect will be less obvious, but what a pleasure to feel a revitalized and illuminated face!

Kobido massage is also possible for pregnant women from the 3rd month.
